A 400 level Public and community health (PCH) student of Novena university has died in a road accident on her way to Abraka to withdraw cash from an Automated Teller Machine (ATM).
The accident occurred yesterday when the late student identified as Kelechi went with another student whose current situation is yet uncertain as at the time of this report, made the trip to make an ATM cash withdrawal at Abraka because the ATM’s in Novena University were all packed up according to reports from students.
Presently, there is an ongoing riot in the school premises as students are unhappy with the lackadaisical manner in which the school’s only bank, Skye Bank has been managed over the years. Properties and structures are being destroyed by the protesting students as a way of expressing their disappointment and hurt of losing one of their own.
A student told us that the school lacks basic amenities and they pay a lot of money but don’t get a quality education or conducive learning environment.
The students are also using this medium to send a message to Skye Bank and authorities of the institution to make the university as comfortable as possible by making sure basic amenities/infrastructures such as a simple working ATM is on ground and working 24/7 round the clock as a sign of development.
